Privacy policy
Effective 2026-10-15
This policy explains what personal information RuralRoof collects, why, how long it is kept and how you can exercise your rights under Korea's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
1. What we collect
Browsing without an account: your IP address, used only as a rate-limit counter on searches and map tiles, and the address keywords you type into search. With an account: your email address and password (stored as a hash by our authentication provider), an optional display name, your language setting, and properties you save with notes.
2. Why we use it
To run your account and sign you in, to show your saved properties, to answer address searches, and to protect the service against abuse and automated scraping. We do not sell personal information and do not use it for advertising.
3. How long we keep it
Account data is kept until you delete your account or ask us to. Rate-limit counters reset within 10 minutes. Cached address search results are kept for 24 hours and are not linked to you. Records we must keep by law are kept for the period the law requires.
4. Processors and transfer abroad
Our database and sign-in service run on a server rented from Contabo GmbH (Germany) in a data centre in France, and the website is hosted by Vercel Inc. (United States). Your data is therefore stored and processed outside Korea, transferred over encrypted connections whenever you use the service. Address keywords are sent to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's road-name address service (Juso) to find matching addresses. We do not provide personal information to any other third party unless the law requires it.
5. Cookies
We use only necessary cookies: one keeps you signed in and one remembers your language. We use no advertising or analytics cookies.
6. Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, delete or stop the processing of your personal information, and to delete your account, by emailing us at the address below. We answer within 10 days.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access is limited by row-level security in the database, and passwords are never stored in plain text.
8. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the effective date on this page and announce material changes on the site before they take effect.
